even billionaires get it wrong

may 2023

Sometimes things go wrong in business. There’s no way of avoiding it.

It doesn’t matter what business you’re in – problems will occur, things will go not quite to plan… It doesn’t even matter who you are (or how rich you are either!).

Take Elon Musk as an example…

Musk has always been one to push the boundaries of what’s possible, first with Paypal, then with Tesla, and now with SpaceX. As a world-famous billionaire with mega-funds, huge teams of people and the best of the best working with him, you’d think he’d have it all sorted. But even billionaires can’t prevent things from cocking up occasionally.

SpaceX recently had a launch go a little bit not to plan. Well, when I say not to plan… I mean the rocket exploded mid-launch. Starship, which is the world’s biggest is destined to carry 100 people into space in the future – but it doesn’t look like it will be anytime soon! Its first launch attempt failed to get off the ground – and its second ended in what SpaceX called “a rapid unscheduled disassembly” – in other words, it blew up. It seems even billionaires can’t always get it right…

As a freight forwarder, we’re no different. In fact, we’ve a lot to contend with… much that can go wrong. Sometimes the weather is against us. Hurricanes and typhoons can delay ships and tip cargo overboard. Sometimes it’s pirates. These machete-wielding tyrants can hijack ships, taking hostages and demanding ransoms. Sometimes it’s customs, cargo fires, blockages in the Suez Canal or even pandemics!

We can’t factor in all the variables and promise you smooth sailing for every shipment – but we can promise you that we’ll do everything in our power to keep your cargo safe. Whether that’s using only trusted carriers and forwarders, picking the best shipping routes, making sure you understand your insurance, advising you on how to package your goods…

With over 35 years in freight, we know how to keep your goods protected – and find you the best rates too! While I’d love to promise you that nothing will ever go wrong – no pirates, no hurricanes and no “rapid unscheduled disassemblies” but that would probably be untrue – I mean, I can’t predict the weather nor a pandemic! But I can promise you that if something does go wrong, we’ll be there to help you through it every step of the way.

So how about you? Do you have any good stories about when stuff goes unexpectedly wrong? I’d love to hear them…
