Ever sit still for a minute and suddenly realise you’ve just lived a full calender year in fast-forward?

That’s exactly where I am right now… Coffee in hand, staring at the last of the Christmas stuffing, wondering how on earth 2025 packed so much in.

This year at Millennium Cargo has been both exciting and challenging (what year in business isn’t?!)  We kicked the year off with a long‑planned office move. Bigger space, better offices, and yes – the broadband drama you’d expect when you tell BT you’re relocating. There were phone lines that wouldn’t behave, cables mysteriously disappearing, and at one point someone asked if the kettle was “network dependent. We ironed it out, and now it feels like a proper home base for the team to do proper work – and to actually enjoy being there.

We’ve moved more cargo, kept more customers happy and continued to grow both the business and the team. Both Connor and I have travelled all over the world, attending networks and visiting our clients and customers – keeping our relationships real and making sure we’re not just another faceless forwarder! Outside of Millennium, I’ve taken on more business coaching clients, helping other business owners sharpen their operations, tackle growth blocks, and build better (bigger!) businesses.

Out in the wider world of freight, 2025 kept everyone on their toes. The Red Sea situation caused a lot of headaches – it continued to push carriers to rethink routes, schedules and contingency plans. Ports had their moments too – congestion here, equipment shortages there… AI and technology became a topic of daily conversation with more real‑world trials of autonomous trucking, AI‑assisted route optimisation and some serious progress in technology that could change the way the world works – not just in freight but across the board in business.

At a personal level? I clocked a few serious miles chasing Villa around Europe – from freezing mid‑week matches in France to Xmas market themed bars in Switzerland. There’s something about being surrounded by thousands of fans singing your anthem that resets your perspective…

So as we wrap up the year, what’s the one big lesson 2025 taught me? You can’t control weather, geopolitics, capacity crunches or when your broadband decides to have an existential crisis… but you can control how you respond…

So what was your biggest “2025 moment”? That one win, lesson or memory that made you stop and smile – or made you learn something big? Let me know? I’d love to hear from you…  Here’s to winding down the year well… and kicking off 2026 even better. Happy New Year!
