The End Of The Freight Industry…

Can you imagine a world without freight?

A world without cargo ships, trucks and containers?

It could happen…

A couple of days ago I came across an article that caught my attention. It was a blog post from back in 2014, talking about NASA’s testing of “print on demand”.

The theory was pretty simple.

They designed a wrench, had the designs safety tested and approved, then emailed the designs to the International Space Station where they used a 3D printer to create a full size, fully functional wrench!

They basically emailed a wrench to space!

Now, I can see why NASA are keen to progress this technology. Getting resources into space is slow and expensive. 3D printing is the obvious solution.

But if they can email a wrench to space, what else can they do?

They’ve already found ways to print food, cars, guns and even organs!

Imagine being able to 3D print a new heart when your first one gives up? Or a leg for an amputee?

What about printing a hotdog, a pizza or a wedding cake? Or a new toy for your kids?

The possibilities are endless.

So as you can see, it’s not only space that’s going to be impacted by this particular tech. It’s going to change the way the world works.

It’s a really exciting concept, and one I’m sure we’ll see develop over the next few years.

So will there always be a need for freight? Or will we be printing everything we want on our own 3D printers at home?

What do you think?
